Step2It
Privacy Policy
Step2It helps you build a consistent walking habit while keeping your personal health information on your Apple devices.
Effective September 24, 2026
Information Step2It accesses
Step2It may access the following information only after you grant the relevant Apple system permission:
- Apple Health: step count, walking pace, walking step length, and body mass. This information is used to show progress and estimate walking time, distance, and calories. If you enable Save completed walks, Step2It writes completed walking workouts to Apple Health.
- Motion & Fitness: optional live iPhone step updates during an active Step2It walk. Apple Health remains the final source for daily totals.
- Location: optional private route points collected only during an active walk when you enable route recording. Routes remain on your iPhone and are never uploaded or geocoded.
- Sign in with Apple: an Apple-provided account identifier, stored locally to remember that you signed in.
- Contacts: the name and phone number you explicitly choose in Apple’s contact picker to prepare a walk invitation.
- Calendar: walking appointments that you ask Step2It to create or remove.
- Notifications: your reminder preferences and scheduled walking reminders.
How information is used
Step2It uses this information to calculate daily progress, create personalized walking estimates, schedule reminders, display widgets and Apple Watch complications, and help you arrange walks with people you choose.
Storage and sharing
Step2It stores goals, reminders, coaching choices, achievements, walk recaps, private routes, and walking appointments locally on your devices and in its private Apple App Group. The App Group lets the iPhone app, Apple Watch app, widgets, complications, Live Activities, Siri shortcuts, and controls show consistent progress. Health information remains in Apple Health. Step2It does not transmit this information to a Step2It server or share it with advertisers, data brokers, or analytics providers.
When you create a walk invitation, Apple Messages opens with the invitation prepared. You decide whether to send it. Messages, FaceTime, Calendar, Apple Health, and Sign in with Apple are Apple services governed by Apple’s terms and privacy policy.
Sharing, diagnostics, and backups
Progress cards, feedback messages, diagnostics, and backup files leave the app only after you initiate and review a system share, mail, or file-picker action. Progress cards let you choose each visible metric. Diagnostics exclude steps, weight, contacts, appointments, routes, Apple identifiers, and Health authorization details.
Step2It backup files may include preferences, achievements, and walk recaps. They exclude raw Health samples, body mass, contacts, phone numbers, appointments, and private routes. You choose the destination through Apple’s file picker.
On-device coaching
On supported Apple Intelligence devices, you may opt in to locally generated encouragement. Step2It sends the on-device model only a requested tone and privacy instructions. It does not place step counts, weight, contacts, routes, or other Health data in the prompt. Deterministic app code continues to choose every goal and number.
Your choices and deletion
You can change Health, Motion, Location, Contacts, Calendar, and Notification permissions in Apple Settings. You can delete private routes in Step2It Settings, remove scheduled walks, sign out to remove the locally stored Apple account identifier, or delete the app to remove its local app data. Information stored by Apple services can be managed through those services.
Children
Step2It is a general fitness app and is not directed to children under 13. Step2It does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If Step2It’s data practices change, this policy will be updated and the effective date above will be revised.
